How To Control Your TV With Amazon Echo

10 minutes beginner 4 steps You have your new Amazon Echo and you're now looking to get what you've been promised: full house voice control, Star-Trek style. You probably already have your lights connected to your Echo at least in limited fashion, and the next step is to get all your devices in the mix. First step is get your Echo to control your TV.

With the help of AnyMote Home, you'll transform both your phone and your voice into a universal remote control for your TV and other home devices.


Prerequisites:

- The Amazon Echo, Echo Dot or Amazon Tap
- An AnyMote Home Hub
- The AnyMote Smart Universal Remote app for iOS or Android
- Your smartphone or tablet


Step 1 - Pair your AnyMote Home with your phone

First you'll start by setting up your new AnyMote Home. Unlike old-style Bluetooth accessories, you won't be using your phone settings to pair, but instead you'll use the AnyMote - Smart Universal Remote app.

Start by turning ON your AnyMote Home - as soon as you do that, the top anymote logo will light up signaling that it's ready to pair

On the first launch of the AnyMote Smart Remote app, you'll see a short presentation slideshow. Tap the I have an AnyMote Home button at the bottom of the screen, and then tap the round button with an arrow on it to start the pairing process. As soon as pairing is complete, you'll have the option to rename your AnyMote to something recognizable. Tap here for more AnyMote Home articles


Step 2 - Set up a remote for your TV

Type in your TV brand name to continue:
From the list of categories you see on the screen, pick the TV category, and then your tv. The app will show you a preview of your remote. Feel free to test the buttons you see on the screen, and if they work, tap KEEP.

If the buttons you see on the screen don't work, tap NEXT to get a new remote to preview and test.



Step 3 - Enable the AnyMote Skill for Amazon Echo

You'll switch away for a moment from the AnyMote - Universal Remote app to Amazon's Alexa app. There, open the navigation menu, select the Skills option and then search for AnyMote.

Once the AnyMote skill for Amazon Echo is found, tap Enable. Then switch back to the AnyMote app.


Step 4 - Pair AnyMote with your Amazon Echo

Open the side navigation menu in the AnyMote app, tap Settings, and then tap the Amazon Echo row.
Speak the pairing phrase in green loudly so Alexa can understand you clearly, so when she does, she will confirm that pairing with AnyMote is complete.

Congrats, setup is now complete!

- Alexa, tell AnyMote to Volume UP 5 times on my TV
